We are very proud to say that OPC have been awarded the HALC Annual Social Media Award based on our Facebook page and the content used to keep the community informed and engaged.
OPC Chairman Cllr Jon Hale was presented the award by the Chairman of HALC at their recent AGM. HALC represents all 262 parishes in Hampshire.
OPC are relatively new to social media. With the community committee having tentatively launched the page a few years ago to help ensure residents were informed of our meetings, decisions, projects and events. As well as help promote other village organisations. It really has gone from strength to strength, even helping inform and guide key decisions, such as our recent youth hub, with embedded surveys and questionnaires. So thank you to all who follow our page!
The event was also attended by the Police Commissioner, which allowed Jon to take the opportunity to raise concerns over the cash point robberies and the deployment of police resources, especially PCO’s and Special Constables, away from rural communities. These concerns were echoed by other Parish Councils in attendance.
