Following the decision to introduce a lockdown from Thursday the strict conditions imposed are such that the Odiham Remembrance Service and Wreath Laying, planned for 1045 on Sunday the 8th November, are no longer viable. Reluctantly, therefore, they are cancelled. Instead, those who wish to place a wreath, cross or symbol of Remembrance at the Odiham War Memorial should to do so individually by last light on Wednesday, if possible. These will be arranged and displayed until the new year as is normal.
There will be BBC1 coverage of the pre-recorded Festival of Remembrance on Saturday 7th November at 2140 and of the Cenotaph Service at 1015 on Sunday.
Everyone is encouraged to pause and remember at 1100 on Remembrance Sunday and on Armistice Day, Wednesday 11th November.
Thank you to all who have provided support and assistance during the current Poppy Appeal, which continues until the 8th November under the guidance of our new appeal organiser, Monie Good. Thanks are due to Odiham Parish Council, Royal Air Force Odiham and the Rev.Chris Dudgeon for their support.
Poppies are available at local garages supermarkets and some shops in the High Street (at least until Wednesday). It maybe that you would find it easier to make an on-line donation this year. If so the link is: www.rbl.org.uk/poppyappeal and click on the ‘make a donation’ button.
