Rural Exception Scheme
5 October 2018 - The site adjacent to Rough's Cottage has now been secured and the current proposal is for 12 units. A public consultation was held on 11 July which was well attended. Further site surveys and reports are underway as well as more work on the design and site layout. Following these a further public consultation is planned for early December.
Odiham Parish Council is delighted to inform the community that progress has been made on achieving a Rural Exception site in the parish. This will be for a small number of affordable homes. Priority will be given to local people with a connection to Odiham and North Warnborough parish. These schemes are designed to meet an identified local housing need and to enable people to remain in an area where they have grown up and have existing family. Such a scheme is one of the stated aims in our Neighbourhood Plan (NH Plan).
You may remember that a Housing Need Survey for Odiham was carried out in 2015 which supported the need for homes for local people. Odiham Parish Council undertook that once the NH Plan was made, work would begin on identifying a suitable site(s).
A potential site has been identified and is located close to Rough’s Cottage at North Warnborough.
Pre-application discussions on the proposed scheme will shortly take place with Hart District Council’s Planning Department. Once this has taken place, a community drop-in event will be organised to enable the community to view the initial layout and make comments on the proposed scheme. The date for this event is not yet confirmed but is likely to be in July. We will provide more detail on this event, once the date is confirmed.
